For business owners outside the US

US business account for non-residents

Yes. You do not need to live in the US to open a Bancoli business account. Bancoli opens accounts for eligible solopreneurs and registered businesses in most countries, and owners can be located almost anywhere, as long as the business is registered in a supported country or a supported US state. After verification you get US dollar account details for your business, so US clients can pay you by ACH or RTP.

Can I open a US business account if I live outside the US?

Yes, if your business is eligible. This is a business account, not a personal account. Eligible solopreneurs and registered businesses can apply.

The eligibility page says: "Bancoli can open accounts for eligible solopreneurs and registered businesses in most countries." It also says: "The owners can be located almost anywhere, as long as their business is located in a supported US state or another supported country."

Who is eligible

The first question is where your business is registered, not where you live.

  • Solopreneurs and registered businesses in most countries can apply.
  • Where you live does not decide it. The eligibility page says: "A beneficial owner does not need to live in the same country as the business registration."
  • A US company has to be registered in one of 13 supported states: Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington and Wyoming.
  • Bancoli cannot open an account if any beneficial owner holds tax residence in Cuba, Iran, Myanmar (Burma), North Korea or Palestine (Gaza Strip and West Bank).
  • Some countries are marked "UBO only". Bancoli cannot accept a business registered there, but an owner who lives there can still be eligible through a business registered in a supported country.
  • Bancoli also cannot open an account if the business is located in Crimea, Sevastopol, Donetsk or Luhansk.
  • Opening an account and sending a payout follow different rules. The country list is about opening an account.
